This is one of the early releases of Ash Ra Tempel. It features slow, dark, blues-like patterns at times and a psychedelic, experimental mood throughout the three tracks. The overall feeling is kind of creepy and dark.


"Look at your sun" has a mellow, blues style with a rock touch. The sound is smooth, whereas the lyrics and vocals are a desperate cry. The guitar solo is supreme, closely connected with the song's theme. A lesson on minimal rock, if I am allowed to say!! Epic.

"Darkness: Flowers must die" comes next. Ambient, distant sounds and suddenly hysterical vocals along with mystic percussion kick in. Soon, drumming part comes in and more effects and "noises". The tension raises and the song evolves into a rhythmic, psychedelic MASTERPIECE. Just listen to it to understand its unique power. If you are a fan of Amon Duul II and CAN's early work, this is one of your favorite songs.

"Suche & Liebe" also begins with a cosmic, Tangerine-Dream like intro. Echoes of drumming and bizarre sounds come and go. It reminds "Affenstunde" period of Popol Vuh. Later on, the song changes again into something more spacey and ends with a groundbreaking combination of vocals and riffs. Truly amazing.


This is definitely a must-hear for fans of early 70s German psychedelic music scene. Innovative, experimental and professionally polished, this is a great album.
